Creative Industries Trade and Investment Board is seeking a Senior Advisor

The new Creative Industries Trade and Investment Board (CITIB) is seeking in-kind support from an organisation within or that works with the creative industries in the form of a part-time member of staff to support its activity and ambitious goals. This is a fantastic career development opportunity for a member of your team, who will gain deep insight into the workings and progress on an issue that is of vital importance to the creative industries, both at home and abroad.

The CITIB was established through the Creative Industries Sector Deal to help industry drive exports, trade and investment. The Board is chaired by Annette King, CEO of Publicis UK, and comprises leading figures from across the sector. In its recently published strategy, the Board has committed to increase creative industries exports by 50% by 2023, and significantly increase the number of creative businesses exporting.  

The person seconded to this role will oversee the delivery of this strategy, working closely with Board members to ensure its success. The Board is seeking an in-kind commitment from an organisation of 2 - 2.5 days per week for a term of up to 12 months (time period negotiable), beginning in September 2019 or as soon as possible.

The role’s responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all parts of the Creative Industries Trade and Investment Board, including its subgroups

  • Holding regular meetings with key stakeholders across the creative industries and government in order to:

    • Understand industry members’ desired outcomes on funding and financial planning

    • Work to understand what is possible within government

    • Work within these boundaries to secure a consensus outcome on government and industry support for creative exports and inward investment

  • Issuing advice to the Chair and membership of the Board

  • Ensuring adherence to the terms of reference and relevant parts of the Creative Industry Sector Deal by industry and government members

  • Managing and working with high-level stakeholders

  • Reporting into the Creative Industries Council secretariat on progress

  • Updating the Board’s Export Strategy on a rolling basis, in consultation with its members

  • Providing the secretariat for the Board and its subgroups

Person specification:

  • Be able to communicate clearly and handle information sensitively

  • Have strong diplomatic and stakeholder management skills 

  • Be able to work independently

  • Have experience working with either a government department, a creative industries firm, or a trade association

  • Have an awareness of the political and business landscape in which the Industrial Strategy is situated

  • Have strong project management skills
