Federation Job Vacancy: Membership Officer

Overview of Role:

The Creative Industries Federation exists to represent, champion and support the UK’s creative industries. The creative industries are the UK’s fastest-growing sector, worth more than £101.5bn to the economy and accounting for 1 in 11 jobs. We serve our members through our advocacy and campaigning work, access to our research and insights, a busy events programme and access to our unique network of more than 1,000 creative enterprises.

The Membership Officer will work closely with the Community Membership Manager and the rest of the team at the Creative Industries Federation to ensure that we deliver significant benefit to our members. They will be trained to oversee the systems and processes that will ensure the smooth-running of the Federation’s membership programme and ensure that members are able to feed into and influence our work.

This role has tremendous potential for the right candidate to shine and truly develop their career. We are looking for someone who is highly organised with excellent attention to detail. They must also be keen to learn more about the creative industries and passionate about making a difference to the creative sector.

Key Deliverables:

- Administrative duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Identifying potential members, coming up with creative ideas for how to introduce them to our work, and tracking this progress on the CRM

  • Working with the Community Membership Manager to oversee the account management system at the Federation, ensuring that each team member understands and is able to offer value to the members that they are responsible for

  • Managing communications with members and prospects (e.g. monitoring the membership email inbox, incoming membership applications, taking telephone calls etc.)

  • Managing and processing all incoming membership applications

  • Updating and maintaining membership database and mailing lists on the CRM (customer relationship management system)

  • Logging membership meeting notes and key interactions on the CRM

  • Developing an expert working knowledge of the Federation’s website functionality in order to provide support and guidance to our members

  • Attending events on behalf of the Federation, spreading the word about the work that we do

Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent people skills and a confident communicator

  • Strong organisational skills with great attention to detail

  • Experience of working in an administrative role, or the ability to demonstrate relevant transferable skills

  • Highly computer-literate with an understanding of how to draw conclusions and recommendations from large quantities of data

Personal Qualities:

  • Positive, hard-working and enthusiastic – outgoing, confident and keen to contribute to a productive team environment at a very fast and demanding pace

  • Knowledgeable – a good knowledge of and keen interest in the creative industries, public arts and cultural sectors

  • Skilled communicator – the ability to communicate effectively and to forge strong relationships with all levels of staff and stakeholders – both internal and external

  • Skilled problem solver – finding the best way to get things done and always looking for ways to improve

  • Reliable – with an ability to adapt to constantly developing circumstances and challenges and able to prioritise effectively

Salary: £23,000 to £26,000, based on experience
