Creative Industries priorities for future trade negotiations

January 31, 2020

Over the next few weeks, the government will negotiate trade agreements both with the EU, our largest trading partner, and major countries around the world.

Caroline Norbury MBE, CEO of the Creative Industries Federation and Creative England, said:

“The creative industries are the industries of tomorrow: resilient to automation, at the forefront of innovation, and with the ability to tackle major global challenges such as climate change. The UK’s future trade agreements present us with an opportunity to maintain this momentum and grow the creative industries even further in all parts of the UK - but we need to get it right, on everything from freedom of movement; to funding opportunities; to regulatory alignment; to Intellectual Property, the lifeblood of the creative industries.

As we enter these negotiations, it is now more vital than ever that the creative industries and arts remain under one roof in government, and a Culture Secretary remains at the Cabinet table.”
