It’s incredibly important that the Creative Industries speaks with a united, informed and passionate voice, nationally and globally, and it is great that the Creative Industries Federation has stepped up to this challenge. Even though our sector is the fastest growing in the UK economy, it is not understood or effectively measured by government, and it’s only through lobbying and policy advice that we have a voice alongside other sectors. Bristol Media joined the Federation in order to network more effectively, understand the bigger picture, and take our members’ views to a national level. The distinctiveness of place and localised culture are a key part of this picture, especially as powers are devolved at the same time as global trade becomes our national future. A federation is the right approach to the diversity of activity within the sector, and the Creative Industries Federation has proved its strength and influence – long may that continue.
